Impacted teeth A tooth which fails to erupt properly and remains fully or partially embedded and covered up by bone and/or gum. The most affected teeth are the wisdom teeth. Impacted teeth may cause pain, headaches, infection and malocclusion.
Implants are posts, often made of titanium, which are placed into the jawbone to replace the roots of missing teeth. These may support crowns in the case of a single or a few missing teeth, or may be used to support denture in the case of multiple missing teeth.
Impressions This is when a soft material is placed over the teeth in a tray. This material sets and once removed is an exact negative of the teeth. Plaster and/or stone is then poured into the impression by a dental technician, producing a model of the teeth. Impressions are necessary for all lab made restorations and dentures.
Incisors These are the front four upper/lower teeth used for cutting food.
Inferior dental block causes anaesthesia in all of the lower teeth on the side at which it is given. The gum, bone, lower lip and chin all become anaesthetised. The tongue is also affected on the same side due to anaesthesia of the neighbouring lingual nerve.

Inlays Lab made restorations which are cemented into prepared teeth.
Interproximal brushes Small brushes capable of passing between the teeth. This produces the same effect as floss does in flossing, as it removes plaque and debris from between the teeth.
