Peter Bullions
BULLIONS, Peter, clergyman, born in Moss Side, Scotland, in December, 1791;
died in Troy, New York, 13 February, 1864. He received an excellent early
education, and assisted his parents on the farm. In 1810 he entered the University
of Edinburgh, supporting himself during his three years' course by teaching. He
then studied theology under Prof. Paxton, and late in 1817 came to the United
States. In March, 1818, he was ordained pastor at Argyle, New York, where he
remained until 1824, when ill health compelled his resignation. He then became
professor of languages in the Albany academy, and continued as such until 1848.
From 1832 till 1852 he was pastor of the United Presbyterian congregation in Troy,
New York, and again from 1853 until his death, having in the meanwhile spent
some time in travel. He published an extensive series of classical textbooks, which
came into use very extensively. Among them are "Principles of English Grammar"
(New York, 1834); "Analytical and Practical English Grammar" (1850); "Cicero's
Select Orations" (1851);" Principles of Greek Grammar" (1840); "Principles of
Latin Grammar" (1853); "Latin Exercises " (1855); "Latin and English Dictionary"
(1862). He also published a "Life of Alexander Bullions."

2. John BULLIANS (James) was christened on 18 Jul 1795 in Hillfold, Moneydie, Perthshire. He died in 1868/1875.
1841 census gives birthplace as Logiealmond, which is in Moneydie parish.
Moved to Dunfermline soon after marriage.
1851 census - at 7 Woodhead Street, Dunfermline (cabinet maker) with wife, Margaret and his
children Leonard (baker), Jean (working at the steam factory) and Ann (scholar) & Betsy Donald
Bullions his stepdaughter. John gives his birthplace as
being Logiealmond, Perthshire.
No trace of his death in the period 1868-75
John married (1) Janet MILLER daughter of John MILLER on 24 Nov 1818 in Perth, Scotland.
They had the following children:

Ann had no children and never married.
John married (2) Margaret BROWNLEE daughter of James BROWNLEE on 15 Oct 1850 in Dunfermline. Margaret was born about 1809. She died on 23 Feb 1868 in High Street, Dunfermline.
Margaret had a child by a previous liaison, Betsy Donald who was born in 1838. Betsy Donald took
the name Bullions.

6. James BULLIONS (John BULLIANS, James) was born on 18 Feb 1820 in Dunfermline. He died on 23 Sep 1890 in 57 Priory Lane, Dunfermline. The cause of death was heart failure and dropsy of some years.
Had a family of ten, of whom one son died in infancy.

James married Mary ARNOT on 26 May 1842 in Dunfermline. Mary was born in 1820 in Dunfermline. She died on 13 Jun 1892 in 24 Edgar Street, Dunfermline.

“This is from some old family history written by Oscar, Leonard's son in 1936.He states that this was taken from the family Bible.
Leonard Bullions of Dunfermline, County of Fife, Scotland and Nannie Robinson McIntyre of Larimer, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania were married July 31, 1875.
They had eleven children.

Nannie died in Swissvale, Pennsylvania, January 31, 1919 six days after her daughter Christine. I remember my father telling me they died during the flu epidemic.
My grandfather Andrew Carnegie married Mary Effie Cruikshank on Septem 6, 1905.
They had five children: Mabel Lulu, Andrew Carnegie, Jr., James Merle, Pearl Christine, Leonard McComb. All are deceased.”
There are many living descendants in this line.
